The exhibition "The power of the past: 150 years of archeology in Spain«, Coinciding with the 150th Anniversary of the National Archaeological Museum, aims to celebrate the process of construction of Spanish archeology, as well as the birth of the network of Spanish archaeological museums.
The foundation of the National Archaeological Museum in 1867 It was a momentous moment for society and the awareness of the importance of the country's past, and the objective of this exhibition is to present the history and development of Spanish archeology, which will be carried out through 150 objects or sets that will offer a general and updated vision of the construction of the past from archeology.
Since its birth, archaeological museums have had a double mission: on the one hand document, preserve and display objects of the past, allowing to trace the evolution of societies, and on the other, share that knowledge and make it easier for all of society.
For this exhibition, the great collaboration of the museums for this project will offer a rich perspective on our history and its study.
The exhibition will go from October 11 to April 1, 2018. Free admission.
Place: National Archaeological Museum
Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday: 9:30 - 20:00
Sundays and holidays: 9:30 - 15:00
Guided visits: Tuesday to Friday at 12:00 and 18:00 (from October 11 to March 28, except holidays). Free activity with limited capacity. Buy your ticket from one hour before the activity at the ticket counter.
