On the occasion of the celebration of International Archives DayOn June 9, the Archives of Castilla-La Mancha have prepared a series of activities aimed at show the public much of the documentation that they treasure among their funds, fundamental for the knowledge of History.
This year the chosen theme is Spanish Constitution of 1978, of which 40 years have passed since its approval by the Spanish people.
For the celebration of this day (this year on the 8th), the archives of the region have prepared a special open day with guided tours, web exhibition, physical exhibitions of documents and conferences, among other proposals, mostly related to this topic.
Among all the activities, the exhibition ’40 Years of the 1978 Constitution: Its reflection in the Archives of Castilla-La Mancha ’, in which a tour through documents of some of the most important moments of the Democratic Transition is made, since the death of Franco, the proclamation of Don Juan Carlos as King, the approval of the Political Reform Law, the legalization of the political parties, the 1978 Referendum in which the Constitution and the subsequent configuration of the State of Autonomies were approved, with the birth of Castilla-La Mancha and the first moments in the construction of regional identity.
The Municipal Archive of Sigüenza participates in this exhibition with two groups of the mayor related to the visit of SSMM los Reyes to Sigüenza in April 1978.
The exhibition will open in the Provincial Historical Archive of Toledo and later its itinerancy is planned for the rest of the Provincial Historical Archives of the region.
The Virtual exhibition will be disseminated through the website of the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board and it will be screened in all files attached to this celebration.
Local activities in the Municipal Archive of Sigüenza
In addition to the temporary transfer of the document for the common of the exhibition, the Municipal Archive of Sigüenza has convened an open day at Casa del Doncel from 11:00 to 14:00 for the same Friday, June 8.
Finally, the Municipal Archive has a page in the monthly editions of the local newspaper La Plazuela for the dissemination of its work. Specifically, this month's is entitled 'Moratilla de Henares: depopulation, memory and the municipal archive'.
